Nava Bharat, Maharashtra & Chattisgarh

Nava Bharat started its first edition from Nagpur in 1934. It was readily accepted by the people and was so successful that it went on to become the most popular newspaper of the whole of Central India. Nava Bharat is the leading hindi newspaper of Nagpur.

The Raipur edition of Nava Bharat was launched in 1959. The Chhattisgarh region got its first national daily. The next few years was the growth phase for both, the region and the Group. With education level increasing and the economy getting stronger prompted changes in the milieu. And thus, Raipur became ready for its own English daily. The Central Chronicle was born in 1974. The Raipur edition of Nava Bharat catered not just Raipur, but also the township of Bilaspur and adjoining areas.

But soon Bilaspur came into its own with the advent of Industrialisation and growth of core sectors, in Korba and Champa as well. There saw a demand for an independent edition from Bilaspur in 1983. Having consolidated its presence in Central India, it was time for the Group to look beyond. In spite of a large Hindi-speaking population, Mumbai had limited options for them. A gap existed for a responsive Hindi daily newspaper. Nava Bharat stepped in to fill this void. In 1997, the Mumbai edition was launched.
